One Day Smile – Is It the Right Procedure For You?

Are you ready to transform your smile in a single day? Say goodbye to uncomfortable dentures or missing teeth and get a new smile in one day with implant-retained prosthetics. This innovative dental procedure combines the benefits of traditional implants with the convenience of a same-day placement of an entire upper and or lower set of teeth.

Understanding the One-Day-Smile

A One-Day-Smile is a dental prosthesis supported by implants surgically placed in the jawbone. Unlike traditional dentures, which are removable and can be uncomfortable to wear, implant-retained prosthetics are fixed in place, providing a stable and comfortable fit that looks and feels more like natural teeth.

History of the One-Day-Smile:

The concept of a full-arch implant-retained one-day dental prosthetic was born in 1998 at Nobel Biocare, an implant innovator and manufacturer. They called it All-on-4. The idea was not an invention but rather a technique and has evolved over 25 years to become more predictable. Dentistry has yet to settle on a name for this surgical and prosthetic technique. Today, you might hear it called All-on-4, Same Day Teeth, Full Arch, Teeth in a Day, etc. In our office, we refer to it as One-Day-Smile.

The Procedure: From Consultation to Prosthetic Placement

The journey toward a new smile begins with a consultation with a qualified dentist. They will assess your oral health and determine whether you are suitable for the procedure. Records, including facial photos, digital scans of existing teeth, and a CBCT scan, are integrated into design software. A plan is developed with the dentist and lab, and a surgical kit is fabricated, along with an initial set of teeth.

The surgery itself consists of removal of all teeth on the upper and, or lower arch, followed by bone reduction to provide adequate clearance for the prosthetic teeth. Dental implants are inserted into pre-determined locations into the jawbone. An immediate temporary full-arch prosthetic set of teeth is then attached to the precisely located implants. The patient will wear the temporary teeth for 1-5 months while healing is occurring. Ideally, you never go without teeth.

While the implants are healing, the dentist will work closely with you and a dental laboratory to fabricate your final custom-made prosthetic. This new set of teeth is designed to match your unique smile and facial structure, ensuring a seamless and natural appearance. Once healing is complete, you return to have the temporary teeth removed and replaced with a final One-Day-Smile.

Advantages of Choosing a One-Day-Smile

There are numerous advantages to opting for one-day implant-retained prosthetics:

    • Immediate Smile Transformation: Experience the joy of a new smile in just one day, eliminating the need for temporary or transitional dentures.
    • Natural Look and Feel: The prosthetics are designed to mimic the appearance and function of natural teeth, providing a seamless integration with your smile.
    • Improved Oral Function: Implant-retained prosthetics restore the ability to eat, speak, and smile confidently, enhancing your overall quality of life.
    • Long-Term Durability: Made from high-quality materials, these prosthetics are built to last for many years, offering a sustainable solution for your oral health.
    • Comfort: The One-Day-Smile does not cover your palate eliminating a gag reflex often found in traditional dentures.

Are You a Candidate for a One-Day-Smile?

If you are considering one-day implant-retained prosthetics, scheduling a consultation with a qualified dentist is essential. They will evaluate your oral health, discuss your goals, and determine if this procedure is the right choice for you.

With a One-Day-Smile, you have the opportunity to regain a beautiful and functional smile in a single day. Embrace the confidence and comfort that comes with a smile that’s uniquely yours.
