Dr. Scott Vines earned his dental degree from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and then completed a two-year General Practice Residency at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston. Dr. Vines has been in private practice since 1998 until he recently joined Dr. DeVaney.
He is the type of person that upholds the professional ideals of quality care and has an intense concern for the welfare of his patients. Dr. Vines over the last twenty-one years has served on various committees and councils for both the State Dental Society as well as local Societies. He served on the Board of Trustees for the North Carolina Dental Society for eight years and was the Annual Session Chair in 2015.
He has been the President of both the Third District and the Rockingham County Dental Societies. He is a former board member of the University of North Carolina Dental Alumni Association Board of Directors. Before and while in dental school he was active in scientific research and has co-authored over 20 abstracts and papers. He is a member of the American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry and the Federation of Special Care. He has Fellowships in the American Association of Hospital Dentist, the International College of Dentist and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
In our local community, Dr. Vines currently is the Chair of the Annie Penn Hospital Advisory Board. He served nine years on the Rockingham County Board of Health, he has volunteered monthly over the last twenty years at the Rockingham County Free Clinic. He has been the local coordinator for six NC Dental Society’s Mission of Mercy projects which provides free dental care to the adult undeserved population of our state. He and his staff have volunteered with the Give Kids a Smile program each year since 1998 and he also volunteered yearly for sixteen years with the Christina’s Smile mobile dental van.
Dr. Vines is married to Dr. Tiffany L. Roberson, a general dentist and former classmate. They have two wonderful sons, Connor and Brayden. He is the Scoutmaster at a local Boy Scout Troop, and has coached recreation soccer for the past five years.
